Police raided a West Australian property looking for drugs but left with an emu.
Officers executed a drug search warrant on a Ravensthorpe house on Wednesday morning and found a three-month-old emu, but didn't uncover any narcotics.
A 47-year-old male resident was warned by the Department of Parks and Wildlife, but not charged.
"It's an offence to keep native animals as pets without a permit and also not kind for a large native bird to be kept in an aviary," Sergeant Jaime Paterson said.
Sgt Paterson said the emu was in good health and had been taken to a conservation reserve in Ravensthorpe.
