MELBOURNE - Australian police investigating a man accused of drugging and raping dozens of women will come to New Zealand as part of their inquiries.
Police said today Melbourne man John Nicholous Xydias had been charged with committing a further 93 sex attacks.
He now faces a total of 181 charges, including 57 counts of rape and 124 of indecent assault, as more alleged victims come forward to police.
The charges relate to seven victims aged between 21 and 30 at the time of the offences, and investigators believe they have identified a further 11 victims.
Police prosecutors told the Melbourne Magistrates' Court investigators would need time to travel to New Zealand and South Australia as part of the ongoing investigation.
It is alleged Xydias recorded his sex attacks on women and is infatuated with TV celebrity Naomi Robson.
The attacks are alleged to have occurred between 1995 and 2006.
Xydias did not apply for bail and Deputy Chief Magistrate Jelena Popovic remanded him in custody until October 26 for a committal mention.
Detective Acting Inspector Simon Clemence said it appeared 43-year-old Xydias, from Glen Iris, had met his alleged victims either through his employment in the Greek nightclub and tavern industry or through a telephone chat agency.
He said some of the women who appeared in videos of the alleged sex assaults had not yet been identified and he renewed his appeal for more information.
"Again, we want any person who feels they may have been a victim of a similar incident to come forward," he said.
