A young woman who allegedly pretended to be a doctor in order to work at a major hospital for eight months is being investigated.
Police have launched an inquiry into the 27-year-old, who allegedly faked her qualifications while she was working at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital in southwest Sydney.
She could face criminal charges.
The hospital discovered on Monday the woman was not registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, which accredits all medical professionals.
She had worked at the hospital since January.
