Police impersonator arrested after pulling over unmarked cop car

An Arizona man was arrested for impersonating a police officer after he tried to pull over actual cops who were driving an unmarked car.

Matthew Allen Disbro, 44, was arrested after he tried to accost two Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers on Wednesday in Phoenix, reports The Daily Mail.

Troopers Nick Westbrook and Jesse Stradling had been driving in an unmarked yellow Ford Mustang on Route 51 when they noticed a black Dodge Charge with "law enforcement style" emergency lights on in the car's rear window, AZ Family reports.

"It's pretty rare that we, in an unmarked police car, get pulled over by a police impersonator," said DPS trooper Nick Westbrook.

Officers ran Disbro's plate's and found that the vehicle he was driving actually belonged to a private citizen.

Disbro was said to have then flashed red and blue lights to get the officers to pull over.

When they refused, Disbro pulled up next to the troopers and yelled at them to pull over.

"It shocked us at first when the lights came on, obviously," added DPS trooper Jesse Stradling.

Activating their own emergency lights, the troopers instructed Disbro to pull over so that they could initiate their own search.

They learned that he was actually an armed security guard and discovered that he had a police-style siren, lights and a radio scanner.

"I could see in the car just enough to see it looked like someone was wearing a police uniform," added Westbrook.

"We don't know how many times he's done this. Very happy to have him off the road," explained Stradling.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is asking anyone who may have come in contact with Disbro to contact them.
