KEY POINTS:
MELBOURNE - Victorian detectives have found a car belonging to the man wanted over yesterday's fatal triple shooting in Melbourne.
Police swooped on a 2002 black Honda CRV with NSW registration AOH 54W parked in Flinders Lane, four blocks from where the shooting took place.
The car is one of two believed to be owned by shooting suspect Christopher Wayne Hudson, a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang.
Inspector Glen Weir said a passerby noticed the vehicle and contacted police shortly after 8am (AEST) today.
He said the scene has now been taped off as detectives examined the vehicle.
"We've located that vehicle and we're hopeful that examination will lead us to some evidence that might indicate where Hudson is," Insp Weir told Southern Cross Broadcasting.
Police have revealed the third person shot was a Dutch backpacker.
The tourist, who is in hospital fighting for his life with gunshot wounds to the upper body, apparently came on the scene of the shooting by chance, Detective Inspector Stephen Clark told the ABC.
"He's from overseas, I believe on an extended holiday around the world, so we've contacted his family over in Amsterdam, and they're heading down to Australia," Det Insp Clark said.
Asked whether the man was a backpacker who happened to be walking by the scene at the corner of Flinders Lane and Williams Street, Mr Clark said: "I believe so, yes."
Police were now hunting for the other vehicle owned by Hudson - a 2003 black Mercedes sedan with Victorian registration UTA 879, Insp Weir said.
"We're very, very keen to locate that vehicle," he said.
The suspected gunman has a "fairly extensive criminal history".
Mr Hudson is known to police and is described as extremely dangerous.
Hudson is a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang who was shot during a violent brawl at a kickboxing event on Queensland's Gold Coast last year.
"Mr Hudson does have a fairly extensive criminal history," Detective Inspector Stephen Clark told the Nine Network today.
"He has (criminal) associates in Victoria, NSW, Queensland and South Australia.
"Clearly we're appealing for Mr Hudson to give himself up or for anyone who sees him to ring that information through to us soon as possible.
"Don't approach Mr Hudson he is particularly dangerous and may well be armed."
Horrified city workers yesterday watched as three people were shot in a violent confrontation on the corner of Flinders Lane and William Street at 8.15am AEST.
An earlier altercation involving a woman outside a nightclub turned deadly when two good Samaritans went to the aid of another woman, identified by police as former Sydney model Kaera Douglas, as she was being dragged from a taxi by her hair.
Solicitor Brendan Keilar, 43, was killed and Ms Douglas, 24, and a second bystander, a man in his 30s, were critically wounded in the upper body.
Insp Clark said police were still waiting to interview Ms Douglas about the incident and could not confirm whether the two women involved in the incident knew Hudson.
"I can't really," he said. "They were seen together early in the night.
"Kaera has been receiving some medical treatment and that takes precedence over our investigation at the moment."
Insp Clark said Hudson had not been seen since shortly after the shooting.
"We don't know where he is at the moment," Insp Clark said.
But every available police resource had been put onto the task of tracking him down, he said.
"This is the number one priority for Victoria Police at the moment," Insp Clark said.
"We have a large number of detectives and uniformed personnel on standby and will be responding to any information that is phoned through to us as quickly as we possibly can."
He said police interstate were also advised to lookout for Hudson and that he may be driving a 2003 black Mercedes sedan with Victorian registration UTA 879 or a 2002 black Honda CRV with NSW registration AOH 54W.
"Mr Hudson does have an association with those two motor vehicles," he said.
"We don't know whether he is driving those vehicles or any other vehicles."
Insp Clark described Mr Keilar as a "very brave man" and said he had paid the ultimate price for his bravery.
"It's a tragic set of circumstances and our thoughts and wishes go out to the family at the moment," he told the Seven Network.
He said the actions of both Mr Keilar and the other man who went to Ms Douglas' aid were "particularly brave".
"Generally we would encourage people where the situation permits to contact the police but we had one witness yesterday describe the incident as being over in the blink of an eye so very brave and probably very instinctive actions on the part of both men involved."
Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) chief executive officer Michael Brett Young said Mr Keilar's death was felt throughout the legal profession.
"The tragedy of this loss that was so senseless is something that will bring this profession together," Mr Brett Young told ABC Radio.
"I know that they will want to assist as much as they can both his family and the firm and colleagues."
Mr Keilar was a partner at commercial legal firm Norton Gledhill and specialised in property law.
His family gathered at his Hawthorn East home overnight to comfort his widow Alice, son Charlie, aged eight, and daughters Phoebe and Lucy, aged six and four.
Shooting victim Kaera Douglas is a party-girl who loves fashion, friends, Harley Davidsons and "anything fast", according to her website.
Ms Douglas -- who is in a serious but stable condition in hospital -- describes herself as a movie buff who loves fashion, her friends, swimming, running, going out and "being in love" on her MySpace website.
Her webpage is emblazoned with Harley Davidson emblems and features dozens of nightclub snaps of her and friends scantily clad in raunchy poses.
The former model describes herself as a travel consultant, earning more than A$250,000 ($279,000) a year after completing her high school education.
Her other loves include "eating out, spirituality, going to the gym, boxing, Anything Fast".
She enjoys going to the movies -- her favourite film is Beaches -- and magazines and her favourite television shows are crime shows, Desperate Housewives and Next Top Model.
Ms Douglas nominates her mother as her hero, who she describes on the website as the "most amazing person God ever put on this earth".
She also says she tries to base her life on the sentiments of American Max Ehrmann's 1927 poem Desiderata, which she has posted on her site.
It reads: "Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence ... Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit...
"Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism."
