OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) A 45-year-old Toronto man faces two charges following a bomb threat that forced the evacuation Wednesday of the Prime Minister's Office in Ottawa.
A police robotics team was called in to dispose of a package left in the historic Langevin Block just across the street from Parliament Hill as the Conservative government prepared to reconvene Parliament.
Adjoining streets were blocked off and the building, which houses the working offices of the prime minister, was emptied. Royal Canadian Mounted Police Corp. Lucy Shorey said Thursday no threat was found in the package. Prime Minister Stephen Harper was not in the building at the time.
Shorey said Mohamoud Jimale has been charged with one count of uttering threats and one count of mischief. She says the threat was directed at security.
