Papua New Guinea is on the brink of a major HIV/Aids epidemic, with the number of infected people increasing 50 per cent a year, Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta said yesterday.
He said the statistics showed the urgent need to contain the disease.
Although HIV was mainly affecting confined groups such as prostitutes and their clients in urban areas, that was changing rapidly and the populace at large was at risk.
