CANBERRA - Prime Minister John Howard admits he will have a fight on his hands to keep his seat of Bennelong, after a poll showed Labor's Maxine McKew would win it in an election held today.
Primary support for Howard in the seat has dropped to 44 per cent, down 6 per cent from the last election, says the Galaxy poll for News Ltd. Support for former ABC journalist McKew is at 46 per cent, up 18 points from Labor's position in 2004.
Howard said the poll did not tell him anything he didn't know about his tough marginal electorate.
