A small plane crash-landed on a busy road, hit a car and burst into flames after take-off in Vancouver, killing the pilot and injuring 10 others, authorities say.
Two of the 10 people hurt in Thursday's accident - eight people on board the plane and the two people in the car - remained in critical condition.
Vancouver coroner Owen Court told AFP on Friday that the pilot, 44-year-old Luc Fortin, "was treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to hospital for severe fire-related injuries" but later died.
The two people in the car that was struck by the plane were treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries, said Royal Canadian Mounted Police Corporal Sherrdean Turley. Officials earlier had said they were seriously hurt.
The Kelowna-bound flight had looped back soon after departure from Vancouver International Airport but fell 900 metres short of the runway and collided with a moving car on a road leading to the airport.
