KEY POINTS:
APIA, Samoa - Foreign Minister Winston Peters is in Samoa again, this time for Ministerial Consultations.
Peters last visit to Samoa was in August last year when he was bestowed the title Vaovasamanaia from the village of Gataivai in Savaii.
This time, the visit by the Minister has been fairly understated, as he slipped out of Aggie Greys Hotel in town for a days meeting this morning.
The Minister was escorted by local Police and Government guards in a four car entourage, joined by the local High Commissioner of New Zealand to Samoa H.E Carolyne Bilkey.
Two of the entourage cars were black Buicks donated by China to Samoa five years ago.
According to a Press Statement issued by the local NZ High Commission, Peters is in Samoa for the latest round of annual Joint Ministerial Consultations.
Peters will sign a joint communiqué with Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Tuilaepa Sailele Lupesoliai Malielegaoi this afternoon after the consultations.
Peters said in the statement: "Samoa is one of our closest neighbours in the Pacific, and we greatly value the chance to exchange views on a wide range of bilateral and regional issues in a way that can only serve to bring our two countries even closer together."
