South Korean adventurer and extreme climber Park Young Seok has become the first man to achieve the "climbers' grand slam".
He has conquered all 14 peaks above 8000m in the Himalayas, the highest peaks of all seven continents, and completed a trek on foot to the South and North Poles. "
We are here, right on the North Pole," the 41-year-old told South Korea's Yonhap news agency by satellite telephone after trekking for almost three weeks.
Park reached the summit of Mt Everest in May 1995 and reached the South Pole last year.
