Peace ahead for Sri Lanka

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka's leader has promised peace and prosperity to a nation battered by decades of civil war.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa said United People's Freedom Alliance won 117 seats in Thursday's election.

Closest rival United National Front has 46 seats.
