Payrise for Malaysian hangmen and floggers

Malaysia's hangmen and floggers have been given pay rises.

For every hanging, executioners will now be paid 500 ringgit ($180.91), up from 300 ringgit. For every swing of the cane, prison officers flogging convicts will now get 10 ringgit, up from the three ringgit per stroke they used to receive.

The increase in allowances is for some 50 floggers and executioners nationwide.
