A Paris-style public bike hire system to alleviate inner-city congestion will be introduced in Melbourne under a scheme to be funded in tomorrow's Budget. It will cost A$5 million ($6.5 million).
Tenders will be sent out this week, with the system expected to be operating by next year.
While the details have yet to be nutted out, it is expected around 50 bicycle stations will be set up at key inner-city locations with a total of up to 600 bikes.
