Unidentified gunmen ambushed one of the top commanders of Palestinian security forces in the Gaza Strip last night, wouding him and killing a bodyguard, Palestinian security sources said.
Brigadier-General Tareq Abu Rajab, deputy head of the Palestinian General Intelligence Service, was shot in the chest as he drove to his office in Gaza City. Medics said he was undergoing surgery.
