A Palestinian infant was killed by shots at her home yesterday. Her family said the fire came from the direction of a nearby Jewish settlement. Rahma Abu Shams, 3, suffered a bullet wound to the head.
The Israeli Army said it was not aware of the death, but that Palestinians had launched two rockets from the area toward Israeli areas and the Army responded with fire.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has lifted a ban on peace talks with new Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, imposed after six Israelis were killed in a Gaza border ambush. Aides said the two leaders were expected to meet today.
