Two missing miners whom searchers had been desperately trying to locate inside a collapsed mine shaft have been found dead six days after they went missing, AFP reported a rescue worker as saying.
"We have found both of them. They are dead, and we need another 10 men to get them out," Giorgy Ramirez, a member of the rescue team at the Casa Negra mine, said today.
That brings to four the number of fatalities in the cave-in.
The lifeless bodies of two miners had already been pulled from the Casa Negra mine some 400km from Ecuador's capital Quito, AFP reported.
The miners went missing during the subsidence on Friday, two days after Chile completed its historic, successful rescue of 33 miners stuck underground in the San Jose mine for a record 69 days.
