Outrage over bottom-wiping photo

France's justice minister has called for legal action to be taken against a man who was caught on camera wiping his bottom with the French flag.

Michel Alliot-Marie said it was unacceptable for the flag to be disrespected in such a way, the BBC reported.

The image, which was taken on a street, shows a rear view of a man with his trousers around his ankles apparently using the flag to wipe his bottom.

The picture appeared in Metro, a free national newspaper, last month.
