Outraged donors in Arizona have threatened to withdraw support for the US Humane Society after it killed the cat of a former heroin addict because he was unable to immediately pay US$400 ($520) for its medical care.
The Arizona Republic newspaper reported that Daniel Dockery's 9-month-old cat, Scruffy, was put down only hours after he brought her in.
