Ten scimitar-horned oryxes from zoos in North America and Europe are being reintroduced in Tunisia, where they have been wiped out from their native scrubland, the Kansas City Star reported. A member of the antelope family, it has been pushed to extinction by hunters.
The 10 animals will be mixed with oryxes previously relocated to a Tunisian national park in the 1980s. The new herd is to be protected by the government.
