Fiji opposition leader Mahendra Chaudhry pleaded not guilty yesterday to holding an illegal meeting in defiance of emergency laws imposed by the military regime, local reporters said.
Chaudhry, a former Prime Minister, and five other men were arrested on Friday and accused of staging an unlawful assembly at rural Rakiraki, breaking a law banning meetings of more than three people.
