One of seven Pitcairn Islanders facing sex trials on the remote Pacific island has pleaded guilty, according to reports.
Dennis Christian, 49, pleaded guilty to three of the four charges he faced, Radio New Zealand reported today. The fourth charge was dismissed after the prosecution offered no evidence.
The report said Christian admitted indecently assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the early 1980s.
The details of the two other charges were suppressed.
Christian is the island's postmaster and a distant cousin of Pitcairn mayor Steve Christian, who is also on trial on the island.
The tiny Pacific island is home to 47 people, many of them descendants of Fletcher Christian and his band of mutineers, who settled there after the 1789 mutiny on the British ship the Bounty.
Seven Pitcairn men are facing trial on the island on 55 sex abuse charges dating back up to 40 years.
