A Saudi Arabian woman competing in the judo will pull out if she is not allowed to wear her hijab during bouts.
Wojdan Shaherkani, 16, is due to compete in the +78kg category on Saturday.
Officials say she cannot wear the headscarf for safety reasons.
Her father Ali told Saudi Arabias al-Watan newspaper his daughter will not compete if the committee insists that she removes her hijab. Olympics and Saudi officials are in talks with judo chiefs to try to find a solution.
