SYDNEY - The boyfriend of legendary Australian actress and singer Olivia Newton-John has been missing for almost two months, it emerged today.
American Patrick McDermott, 48, a cameraman, has been missing since June 30 when he told friends he was going on an overnight fishing trip out of the Californian city of San Pedro.
On July 7, McDermott's family found his car in the parking lot of a marina in San Pedro and contacted police.
Los Angeles Police issued a statement on August 10 requesting public assistance in locating McDermott but did not mention his link to Newton-John.
British-born Newton-John, 56, has been seeing McDermott since 1996.
She was formerly married to actor Matt Lattanzi, with whom she has a teenage daughter, Chloe.
Newton-John, who started her successful career in Australia, is most famous for playing the role of Sandy in the film 1978 musical Grease.
She underwent successful surgery for breast cancer in 1992.
McDermott last year expressed his love for Newton-John on the Nine Network's This is Your Life program.
"If we could all just be a little bit like you we'd all be a little better off," he told her.
"I love you with all my heart."
