President Barack Obama has begun talks with potential candidates to be his next nominee for the United States Supreme Court.
The White House says Obama's list includes about 10 people.
The potential nominees are believed to include Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano; Elena Kagan, 49, the US solicitor general; Diane Wood, a US appeals court judge in Chicago; Merrick Garland, a US appeals court judge in Washington, DC; and Sidney Thomas, a judge on a San Francisco appeals court.
