WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama says he will nominate a top Democratic political fundraiser to be ambassador to Norway, one of a long list of nominations announced by the White House for posts throughout his administration.
Obama selected George Tsunis, the founder, chairman and CEO of Chartwell Hotels, as his nominee for the ambassadorship to Norway. He also nominated career foreign service officials for ambassadorships to Jamaica and to the Republic of Angola.
Nominated to be representatives to the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly were Rep. Barbara Lee and Rep. Mark Meadows.
Obama nominated former Gov. Ted Strickland to be one of the alternate representatives to the U.N session.
