KEY POINTS:
A New Zealand tourist, injured in a hot air balloon crash landing in Egypt, suffered minor injuries and was treated in hospital.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said New Zealand consular staff from Cairo had been on contact with the person in hospital and offered assistance.
The sex of the injured tourist was not known, but they were among seven injured when the balloon crash-landed in the pharaonic city of Luxor yesterday.
Four of the hurt sightseers were from Scotland, one was from Belgium and one was from England, Luxor's police chief Al-Shafie Mohammed Hassan said.
Hot air ballooning, usually at sunrise, is popular with tourists in Luxor, the site of the Valley of the Kings and other ruins from Egypt's pharaohs.
