A New Zealand paedophile impersonated pop star Justin Bieber on social media to trick young girls into sending him explicit photos, The Melbourne Age reports.
Kent Garrett, 42, was jailed for six years at the County Court of Victoria. He had pleaded guilty to 29 charges, including grooming a person under 16 for sexual activity.
The Age reported that Garrett, who moved to Australia in 2007, had 19 victims, some as young as 12. He was arrested in 2012.
According to a prosecution summary published by the Age, Garrett pretended to be Bieber on email, Facebook and the online chat website Tinychat.
"The offender operated these fake Justin Bieber accounts with the intention of enticing young girls to send him explicit photographs of themselves," the summary said.
