A former Christchurch man has been found guilty of murder in Western Australia and now faces 14 years in jail.
Robin David Macartney, aged 47, had been accused of asphyxiating 27-year-old Lalita Horsman with a plastic bag at a beach north of Perth in 1999.
His mother, who lives in Christchurch and did not want to be named, said: "I have no sympathy for him. He got what he deserved. I'm not sorry for him."
