One of the New Zealand Greenpeace activists being detained in Russia has been refused bail.
Greenpeace spokeswoman Carmen Gravett says a two month detention period was set for David Haussmann and the 28 other activists about a month ago.
"Within that window, still anything could happen.
"They could drop their absurd piracy charges, they could apply to have that window extended, or they can start the more formal legal proceedings."
The second New Zealander being held, Jonathon Beauchamp, will have his bail hearing within the next few days, but Carmen Gravett says it's not looking good.
