New Zealand is giving $500,000 to help with relief efforts in the Philippines following the devastating Typhoon Washi.
More than 1000 people were killed and 285,000 displaced when the typhoon hit the Mindanao region in the southern Philippines this month.
Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully announced yesterday that the Government would contribute $500,000 to Philippines Red Cross, to provide food, blankets, shelter, water and sanitation to those in the worst-affected areas.
