NSW needs more officers, police say

New South Wales is set to boost police resources amid mounting criticism of the state's ability to fight violent crime. A total of 21 people have been murdered this year, almost one-third of last year's total.

The Police Association called for 3000 extra police over three years to offset those being pulled off murder cases to investigate race riots and terrorism.
