Victoria Beckham is being sued for £500,000 ($1.6 million) by shop owners who claim she became "loud and rude" and accused them of selling fake autographs of her footballer husband.
The former Spice Girl known as Posh, wife of England soccer team captain David Beckham, is being sued for slander and malicious falsehood over what was said to be an outburst at a Kent shopping mall. The shop owners claim their sales dropped dramatically after publicity.
Desmond Browne, QC, for Beckham, said the claim for damages "as flimsy as this" should not be allowed to proceed.
Judgment was reserved.
