A North Korean agent who switched sides in the 1960s turned back to Pyongyang because he missed his mother, according to prosecutors in South Korea.
The 63-year-old, named only as Mr Han, was arrested last week for plotting an assassination there.
Sent to the South to foment unrest, he changed sides and acted as an informant.
