North Korea has begun fuelling a long-range rocket for an impending launch.
Pyongyang says it will send a communications satellite into orbit on a multistage rocket some time from tomorrow to Wednesday.
Experts say the missile can be fired about three to four days after fuelling begins.
Crisis control officials opened an emergency centre in northern Japan to prepare for the launch as the rocket is expected to fly over Japanese territory.
