KEY POINTS:
NORFOLK ISLAND - The prosecution will make its closing arguments today in the trial of Glenn McNeill, the New Zealand chef accused of murdering Janelle Patton on Norfolk Island.
The 29-year-old from Sydney, was found stabbed to death in a picnic reserve on Easter Sunday 2002.
McNeill, 29, is on trial in the Australian territory's Supreme Court for her murder.
He has pleaded not guilty.
The crown alleges McNeill abducted Ms Patton as she walked along an island road, possibly after hitting her with his car.
During a recorded police interview played to the jury last week, McNeill said he accidentally ran over Ms Patton and later stabbed her.
But in an unsworn statement to the court, McNeill said what he had told police was "complete rubbish", because he had been suffering mental health problems at the time.
McNeill told the jury he did not murder Ms Patton and did not see her that Easter Sunday.
Evidence in the trial concluded last Thursday and prosecutor Dan Howard, SC, will make closing submissions to the 11-member jury today.
