KEY POINTS:
A prosecutor has said there is little chance of a case against the parents of Madeleine McCann without the four-year-old's body, it has been reported.
The Sun newspaper in the UK quoted Antonio Cluny, head of Portugal's governing body for prosecutors, as saying: "Without the little girl's body, everything is extremely complicated.
"There have been cases in which it was possible to obtain a conviction without there being a victim, but there were confessions."
Parents Kate and Gerry McCann have been named as suspects but have strongly denied they had anything to do with their daughter's disappearance.
The Sun also reported that police in Portugal had been told by the District Attorney's office to find Madeleine's body "at all costs".
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reported today that nanny Charlotte Pennington confirms that Kate McCann did shout: "They've taken her, they've taken her!" after discovering Madeleine was gone.
Portuguese police have questioned why she would assume the girl had been abducted.
The family have said they recall her shouting: "Madeleine's gone."
Miss Pennington says she heard the mother use both phrases, the paper reported.
The McCann's have hired a firm of private investigators, made up of former SAS men, to find their daughter as they continue to maintain their innocence.
