A New Zealander has died in a motorcycle crash in northern Queensland.
Robert Baillie, known as Robbie, was killed in Mackay, about 1000km north of Brisbane on Sunday. He was 25.
The former resident of Mangakaramea in Northland was remembered by friends as a "champion" with a "heart of gold",the Mackay Daily Mercury reported.
District Inspector Andy Graham told the paper police were still investigating the crash, which occurred about 8.15pm, but believed speed was a "major contributing factor".
The Mercury said it was the second fatal crash in the suburbs in less than a month.
A death notice for Mr Baillie published in today's New Zealand Herald said he was the much loved son of Jane and Rob Baillie and had two brothers and a sister.
