PERTH - A New Zealand man has faced court, accused of trying to smuggle child pornography into Western Australia.
Customs officers stopped the 48-year-old man at Perth International Airport after he arrived on a flight from the Philippines on Sunday.
It is alleged images depicting children in various stages of undress and in provocative poses were discovered during a luggage search.
He was arrested and charged with importing prohibited goods and appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court yesterday.
The New Zealander was granted bail and will appear in the same court on January 11.
The maximum offence for such an offence carries a fine of $316,380 and /or 10 years imprisonment.
