A 95-year-old former British athletics champion banned by the Nazis from competing in the 1936 Olympics because she was Jewish has finally been recognised for a record that was erased from the history books.
The German track and field association has honoured Gretel Bergmann for a 1.6m high jump she made in June 1936.
