Nato's most senior officer, General James Jones, wants reinforcements to be sent to Afghanistan immediately to combat an unexpectedly intense Taleban attacks.
He is supported by Nato Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, who says the British, Canadian and Dutch troops leading the fight against guerrillas need more support: "Those allies who perhaps are doing less in Afghanistan should think: Shouldn't we do more?"
