A backlog in labour-court cases, high unemployment and the social impact of HIV-AIDS on the Namibian workforce will be among the main topics of discussion at a Trade Union Congress of Namibia summit this weekend.
Congress president Paulus Hango said the theme of the summit, to be held at Walvis Bay, would be "towards decent work for all via institutionalised dialogue", according to AllAfrica.com.
"Namibian people are underpaid and are struggling for their rights, and this will result in future conflict and mass demonstrations," the website quoted Hango as saying.
He called for a minimum wage in all sectors and said "workers are earning peanuts", the website said.
