BRISBANE - Bradley John Murdoch has been denied leave to take his case to the High Court in a final attempt to overturn his conviction for the murder of British tourist Peter Falconio.
The former Broome mechanic today sought special leave in Brisbane to present an appeal to the High Court.
But the court denied the application, saying there was no error in the January ruling on his case in the Northern Territory Court of Criminal Appeal.
The 48-year-old was sentenced to life in jail in December 2005 after being found guilty of killing Mr Falconio on a stretch of the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory outback in July 2001.
He was also convicted of abducting and assaulting Mr Falconio's girlfriend and fellow Briton, Joanne Lees, near Barrow Creek, about 300km north of Alice Springs.
In January, the NT Court of Criminal Appeal rejected an appeal by Murdoch, saying the case against him was overwhelming and noting his lack of remorse.
