Mum leaves two-month-old in the car to get 45-minute massage

An Australian woman has pleaded guilty of leaving her baby in the car to go get a 45-minute massage.

The incident happened in August in Queensland.

The woman decided to leave her 2-month-old daughter in the car, with the windows up, to get a 45-minute aromatherapy massage nearby.

She also left her phone in the car meaning emergency services could not get in touch with her.

The child was very distressed when she was rescued by emergency services, who were forced to cut the roof off the car.

The 26-year-old mother pleaded guilty and her lawyer argued that she was "struggling with lack of sleep".

The judge said there was no evidence of post-natal depression.

The woman was sentenced to nine months probation, with no conviction on record, and will have to attend a parenting course.
