KEY POINTS:
Mt Blanc, the highest mountain in western Europe, has grown more than 2m in two years as a result of global warming.
The peak was measured at 4810.90m last month, said surveyors from France's Haute-Savoie region.
"Glaciers at high altitude seem to be growing, while those situated at mid or low altitude are melting, shrinking and threatened with extinction," said meteorologist Yan Giezendanner.
