ISTANBUL (AP) Turkish news agencies say that a mortar fired from Syria has killed a man in a southeastern province of Turkey.
The reports said the mortar was fired in fighting between Kurdish and al-Qaida-linked fighters on Monday. Local authorities closed schools and warned residents to stay at home.
Earlier this month, the Turkish military retaliated against targets belonging to al-Qaida-linked rebels in Syria in response for a mortar shell that landed close to a Turkish military post near the border.
