More deaths expected

The public should brace itself for more troop deaths in Afghanistan after another Australian soldier was killed there on Friday, the Australian Government says.

Private Nathan Bewes, 23, became the sixth Digger to die while serving in Afghanistan in just over a month, taking the total number killed to 17.

Given Australia's commitment to the war, Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said people should prepare for more casualties.
