KEY POINTS:
CANBERRA - Police expect more arrests after nabbing four Australian men accused of being part of an international internet paedophile ring.
The arrests were part of a global operation to smash the ring, which used a chatroom called Kids the Light of Our Lives to stream live videos of children being raped.
Federal Police described the initial four arrests as the "tip of the iceberg" after gathering substantial information on other potential participants as part of the global investigation.
No Australian child victims were identified but one child was removed from its situation as a precaution.
Of the four Australian arrests, one man faced a Victorian court in April and was sentenced to seven months' jail after pleading guilty.
A 23-year-old West Australian man will be sentenced on July 20 after admitting two child pornography charges in March, and a 31-year-old South Australian will appear in court today. Charges are pending against one other man, believed to be from Melbourne.
The arrests are part of Operation Lobate, which involved law enforcement agencies from around the world, including Britain, the United States, Italy and Canada.
