Israeli troops killed an Islamic Jihad commander in the West Bank and Gaza gunmen fired rockets at Israel in a flare-up of violence.
Soldiers shot Loai Assadi during a raid in Tulkarm, accusing him of organising suicide bombings after a ceasefire was agreed in March.
Islamic Jihad said militants fired 25 rockets into Israel in retaliation, declaring "let calm go to hell", but no deaths were reported.
