A meteor shower which passed over the country this morning was marred by cloudy weather.
From 1am, cloud covered the North Island and most of the South Island, blocking most of the meteors from view.
Observatories around the country say they did not take any photographs of the phenomenon because of the poor visibility.
Astronomer Grant Christie said the best place to watch the shower would have been Mongolia.
